Battle Creek, Kalamazoo, Lansing: New MISTA billboards echo Michiganders’ frustration over tariffs
LANSING, Michigan — The Michigan Smart Trade Alliance this week launched five billboards on busy highways across Michigan to showcase the findings of a recent poll that showed Michiganders overwhelmingly believe tariffs are fueling inflation.
A recent poll of 600 voters by EPIC-MRA found that 74% of Michigan voters said tariffs add to inflation and affordability concerns. Nearly 80% of respondents said American consumers are footing the cost of tariffs on imported goods. By nearly a 2-to-1 margin, respondents said they are less likely to support a candidate who supports tariffs.
Billboards with the message “FEDERAL TARIFFS FUEL INFLATION” are now along roads in a handful of Michigan communities, including those in Kalamazoo, Lansing, Springfield and Battle Creek.
“We heard loud and clear that Michiganders are frustrated with tariffs and are blaming tariffs for driving up prices,” said John Sellek, a MISTA spokesman. “This billboard initiative is aimed at reminding Michiganders that they should join our call for Congress to enact smart trade policies.”
“Michiganders are frustrated by erratic tariffs that are driving up prices and making life more expensive,” said MISTA spokesman Mark Fisk. “These billboards send a clear message: Michiganders across the state want Congress to enact smart and consistent trade policies.”
MISTA offers resources and information to businesses across Michigan. The group continues to grow our coalition. Information is online at www.smarttradealliance.com.
